Day of Thanks for November 3

up gg Halloween14-10Leo Jul 23 | Aug 22: This is one of those rare times when it’s OK for you to just throw out the dirty dishes that you are too lazy to wash. It’s also permissible to hide from a difficult person, spend money on a supposedly foolish indulgence, eat a bowl of ice cream for breakfast, binge-watch a TV show that provokes six months’ worth of emotions in a few hours, and lie in bed for an extra hour fantasizing about sex with a forbidden partner. Don’t make any of these things habits, of course. But for now, it’s probably healthy to allow them. Halloween costume suggestion: total slacker.

The year that I was a mermaid for Halloween (2002) was the year that I started to follow Rob rather seriously. I had come up with the costume on my own and stumbled on his column and low and behold that was his suggestion. When I read this one I was like … “Hell no, I am going as an UrbanPrairie Girl Guide!” Turns out he is right. Halloween, Nuit Blanche are not the best times to try to engage people in anything other than super fun conversation and awesome dance moves. Friday was a good night out in Toronto but not really a time to go out and do my pitch. Timing is everything.

Day of Thanks for September 15

Leo Jul 23 | Aug 22  In his 1982 martial arts film Dragon Lord, Jackie Chan experimented with more complex stunts than he had tried in his previous films. The choreography was elaborate and intricate. In one famous sequence, he had to do 2,900 takes of a single fight sequence to get the footage he wanted. That’s the kind of focused attention and commitment to detail I recommend to you in the coming weeks, Leo – especially if you are learning new tricks and attempting novel approaches.

I think I would like to add the line  …. learning new tricks and attempting novel approaches, to the mission statement of my company UrbanPrairie.

Best FRIEs

FRIES

People just do what they know how to do. No one is really failing you, they are just doing the best they can, and if that is not your best then its your job to move to a better place.

ABOUT: It is definitely more focused now.

UrbanPrairie. UP. Because we have no where to go but up.

UrbanPrairie keeps changing and evolving. First it was a street-front shop filled with pretty things other Canadians had made. Then, it was my little work bench and the idea I could sell to stores but it started up as the first round of posts you see here from the month of May.

Now it’s different. It’s a cleaning kit to remove toxins from our homes. It’s a bike petition to move us forward to clean transportation. It’s a proposal to Pride Toronto on how to lead the way next year with the least amount of plastic ever. It’s a day dream that I could create a 100,000 person charity. It’s a googlie eye art show without a home.

It’s an attempt to build a better community.

It’s an attempt have some great conversation.

It’s a new urban think tank that is going to create environmentally sound ideas with an artistic bend to help make a better spaces for all of us. Non-humans included.

Thank you

on an aside: the goods for sale have not  been fixed in any way. ie I have simply added hangers etc to whatever I have picked up

CRSY! Cleaning Kit

I had dinner at a friend’s house and the entire meal was centered around the lime because  he had read an article on how the lime has been proven to kill cancer cells. I thought interesting …. we believe an article about the power of a fruit at a molecular level to kill cancer cells which was proven in a lab somewhere but we won’t believe that vinegar can clean your home. So we change our diet to counter balance the toxins we take in. Toxins which we can stop taking in by making simple changes in the way we live.

Cleaning supplies …. if you wouldn’t drink it, should you really coat your home with it. Our skin is porous so the chemicals will enter – like it or not.

So instead of being reactive let’s be proactive!

This kit is inspired by my best friend. She has been ahead of the curve as long as I have known her. Over the last 12 years I have always meant to get around to changing my ways from biodegradable to really biodegradable cleaning. Learning new things is sometimes strangely hard. So since I relate to that mentality I have made it easy for you to change (sorta…).

My goal here is to have 1000 people email me for the Label. I would love to know that 1000 homes have been changed to a 100% harm free way of cleaning. It gives us a break, our Lake a break, the whole system gets a very small break. But starting small is still starting.

They make great gifts, fun afternoons and a reason to go into 12 convenience/dollar stores in your town sizing out lids!

Below is all you need.

LCBO single beer carrying case

1 baking soda

1 large white vinegar

1 hydrogen peroxide

1 Castile Soap

2 plastic spray bottles (vinegar goes in one and you need the spray lid from the other to fit on your hydrogen peroxide. You then switch out the lids. Now you can spray your hydrogen peroxide and have another capped bottle to make whatever your heart desires. *** Very important*** take your hydrogen peroxide with you when you are getting the spray bottle. Lid sizes need to match. I have a lot of vinegar bottles ready and waiting)

1 brown or blue spray bottle (this is for your natural air freshener)

Rags (I went to Value Village and grabbed some old shirts and cut them in such a way that you have a lovely little message there while you clean your home)

1 spaces left for you to use as you please (scrub brush fits nicely)

Essential oils for the air fresher and vinegar. Mint, Tea Tree, Lemon, Lime, Lavender plus many more! You make your own scents.

1 Label set (please email me for these)

Enjoy!
