There are a lot of us….

New Brunswick MP John Williamson from the Conservative caucus made comments about “whities” and “brown people” in the temporary foreign worker program.  Interesting language that is racist or simply incredibly inappropriate from one of our MPs

Conservative Ontario MP Larry Miller said the following on the wearing of the niqab during the citizenship oath …. “If you’re not willing to show your face in the ceremony that you’re joining the best country in the world, then frankly . . . if you don’t like that or don’t want to do that, then stay the hell where you came from,” He then went on to speak on behalf of us … ““I think most Canadians feel the same. That’s maybe saying it a little harshly, but it’s the way I feel.”

These two men hold positions of power in our country. Harper has remained silent and they still have jobs.

Justin Trudeau just  suspended two members of the Liberal Party caucus pending the outcome of an investigation of sexual harassment.

I ask you who would you rather have as our PM.

Unless you are awaiting the coming of the second messiah I would recommend voting strategically this coming year as the language that is being used in our country as of late is not language I recognize as Canadian.

In June 2014, a 24 year old man named Justin Bourque from Moncton, shot 5 RCMP officers. It was the deadliest attack on the RCMP since 2005. He is a white male who was potentially suffering from depression.

Stephen Harper did nothing to change the way we protect ourselves.

4 months later in October, Michael Zehaf-Bibeau shot and killed a Canadian solider and then stormed Parliament and was killed.  Michael was 32 years old, a drug user with known mental health issues. He claimed to support jihadists and others in the Middle East resisting the West’s intervention, but was not known to the police to be a terrorism risk.

Today I have Bill C-51 and a serious threat against Canada by ISIS?!?!

I wonder if Michael had been another Justin, another white male with mental health issues, if we would have the scapegoat that was needed to start this dangerous conversation of them and us.

I really want my beautiful mosaic of a country back.

Hump day for January 15

I will be attending the Liberal Convention in February of this year. On Friday night you pop around meeting people who are running for the high up volunteer positions in the Liberal Party. I did not know that this layer of the party existed. I thought it  was MPs and the voters. I like this layer. Members of the party can help shape what the party will think, act and move like. I have decided that I will want to pop in on a few of the rooms; Environment, First Nations, Women’s Issues, Heritage.

My question to the people running to be in charge of our Heritage is this …. “Would you consider tabling the idea that the GTA should be De-Amalgamated and Toronto declared a UNESCO Heritage Site?”

Many people agree about De-Amalgamation. One such guy started a petition. Sign here if you agree.

UNESCO was created in 1945 after two world wars with the idea that; “Peace must be established on the basis of humanity’s moral and intellectual solidarity.” Within the organization they also created the idea of “World Heritage to protect sites of outstanding universal value.”

For me Toronto is a site of outstanding universal value. Toronto has 2.5 Million people with approximately 50% of them being foreign born. We are the most multi-cultural city in the World! Our back alleys are short cuts and art spaces not places to be avoided. We cross cultures when crossing the street. Our Pride parade is the second largest in the world. We are beautiful, safe and diverse.

The Canadian Identity is a hard thing to describe because its not easily recognizable in a physical form. We don’t look a like, sound a like, or come from the same place. We have more differences sometimes than similarities.  In truth thou, most people in Canada are the same simply because they are human. We want a safe and clean home, a job we don’t hate going to, with a pay check that allows us a few sweet moments after paying our bills, a spot to pop in to catch up on the news of the neighbourhood, a health care system that works, a transportation system that works, access to information and a chance to grow as people, support when we need it for whatever reason, and a chance to drop our shoulders, let down our guard, sit outside and watch the world go by.

Somehow by magic Canada has created Toronto where each day we get up and peacefully, creatively and lovingly go about all that.

So I would like to put forward the idea that Toronto should be declared a UNESCO Heritage Site so future generations and visitors from around the world can see what it means for the world to live in harmony.

Thank you to Toronto for the last 13+ years of my life you been very kind to me.

Hump Day for January 8

IMG_9764I just wrote the 5 Liberal Premiers (BC, Ontario, Nova Scotia, PEI, New Brunswick) to ask them about the latest Harper Environment scandal….. ” Libricide.”

This is what I wrote. We will see what they say.

Hi There

I am new to politics and to the Liberal Party so am not sure if this if these are the right email addresses to use but I am curious as to why I have not heard any condemnation from any of your offices in regards to the loss of our Environmental History thanks to more of Stephen Harper’s insane actions.

I don’t know what is more terrifying to me right now, Harper or the lack of response from the opposition.

I looked but could not find any articles where you are speaking up and out on behalf of Canadians and our scientists. If there are any out there please send them over to me. For what I can see those calling for action are not politicians.

I understand the Liberal Party is moving towards the 2015 election under the idea that politics should be positive, optimistic and hopeful. The Liberal Party is concerned with growing the middle class and bringing back equity to our corporate Canada. That’s great but where is the concern and stance on the environment? I don’t see the point in all of us having more money if we don’t have any clean air, water, land. Furthermore, if as a party you are really concerned about the shrinking middle class then it would only make sense to me that you are as equally concerned about the environment since that is the currency our First Nation’s Communities and many others use to transact their lives in. If the quest to save the middle class is not exclusive to money and those in cities then you must start to address actions like these with loud condemnation.

Thank you in advance for your time and replies

Hump Day for November 20

moneyWednesdays I have been researching Steven Harper to try to show the hypocrisy of his government. I have been doing this since May and over the last 6 months feel like I know enough about him to create a strong argument as to why he should not be our PM. Recently I joined the Liberal Party because I love my neighbour and he got me thinking that this would be a good idea. Like all new ideas there are highs and lows involved. I went to some of my friends thinking they would be on board with my new found interest. Turns out the bulk of them are NDP. Interesting. So now I am going to show what Harper is doing and what the Liberals have done in similar situations when they were in control. I think most of what my friends love and identify with as the Canadian Way of Life was created by the Liberals and not the NDP nor the Conservatives.

Medicine Man for October 18

I have been attempting to make my community and my country a better place as of late. It is very hard and slightly overwhelming to be heard. Since there is strength in numbers, I decided to join the Liberal Party. Interesting times ahead learning about my neighbours and the way politics works!
