April’s Fool

april 1 2011

I have worn a uniform my entire working career and for the last 8 years I have sat in a decorated cubicle.

I did not see that coming.

Luckily, I have had great jobs and the most amazing co-workers so it’s never really been work.

So April Fool’s on you, Mr. 9 to 5!

My condo closed last week.

I just moved all the numbers around and it looks like I can say goodbye to 9 to 5.

Hello Ms. 24/7!

Day of Thanks for December 29

bull ridingLeo Jul 23 Aug 22: In Don DeLillo’s novel Underworld, Cotter Martin is a young boy living in New York in the 1950s. The following description is about him. “In school they tell him sometimes to stop looking out the window. This teacher or that teacher. The answer is not out there, they tell him. And he always wants to say that’s exactly where the answer is.” I propose we regard this passage as one of your themes in 2015, Leo. In other words, be skeptical of any authority who tells you where you should or should not be searching for the answers. Follow your own natural inclination, even if at first it seems to be nothing more than looking out the window.

Some people go shopping on boxing day
Some people sit and breath
Others get drunk and ride a bull

What can I say… I am leaving a great paying job, selling a condo, moving out of Toronto to go live in a 100 square foot home with no running water, a wood burning stove, an outhouse and a tub outside. Some might say I have jumped through the window. I have 6 more months of the life I have known for almost 15 years. The only thing I can tell you is that I am more excited than I have been in a very long time. Something beautiful is going to be built in 2015 and I will conduct all of my teaching outdoors.

Day of Thanks For August 18 – The week of August 14

leobday5When we are launching any big project, our minds hide from us the full truth about how difficult it will be. If we knew beforehand all of the tests we would eventually face, we might never attempt it. Economist Albert O. Hirschman called this the principle of the “hiding hand.” It frees us to dive innocently into challenging work that will probably take longer than we thought and compel us to access new resources and creativity. To be clear: What’s hidden from us are not only the obstacles but also the unexpected assistance we will get along the way.

The day before this came out was the day that I had calculated that I actually can pack up my life in Toronto and go live in the bush, so to speak. The hiding hand and I meet often and every time I am surrounded by helping hands so it never really seems that scary to try something new.

Day of Thanks For August 18 – The week of August 7

jbi-bday29Every 12 years, the planet Jupiter spends about a year cruising through the sign of Leo. It’s there with you now and will be with you through early August 2015. What can you expect? EXPANSION! That’s great, right? Yes and no. You might love to have some parts of your life expand; others not so much. So I suggest you write down your intentions. Say something like this: “I want Jupiter to help me expand my faith in myself, my power to do what I love and my ability to draw on the resources and allies I need. Meanwhile, I will prune my desires for things I don’t really need and cut back on my involvement with things that don’t inspire me. I don’t want those to expand.”

I want Jupiter to help me complete the list of projects that I am compiling to start my company, UrbanPrairie and ditto to the rest of what is written there.

This photo is the first big project I have under taken up on my land. It is called “Just Broken In – Come Glamp with Me!” It will be completed by Thanksgiving weekend. More to follow on that one (it gets its own category).

Day of Thanks For August 18

catbruceI am grateful for pulling my energy back in.

I spent my 30th birthday in Thailand in a beautiful cabin on Koh Tao. Our view was of ocean and flowers and sky and each other. It was brilliant. I decided in that moment that I would always wake up somewhere other than my own bed on my birthday. I have been in cabins, Montreal apartments, an adobe, downtown Detroit and my childhood town. They have all been wonderful. This year I woke up alone on my land and it was the sweetest one yet.

Today I am grateful for getting some time to sit and breath and think.

I used to follow my Free Will Astrology rather religiously. I have used a number of different tools to open up my mind. Its really hard to come up with life changing ideas on your own so little poking and prodding always helps.

It looks like Rob is rather accurate right now so I am going to turn Mondays over to him. The horoscopes come out here on Thursdays so that will give me the weekend to mull it all over. Today we are going to get caught up from my 39th onwards.
