There are a lot of us….

GA-MAKE A DIFFERENCE

New Brunswick MP John Williamson from the Conservative caucus made comments about “whities” and “brown people” in the temporary foreign worker program.  Interesting language that is racist or simply incredibly inappropriate from one of our MPs

Conservative Ontario MP Larry Miller said the following on the wearing of the niqab during the citizenship oath …. “If you’re not willing to show your face in the ceremony that you’re joining the best country in the world, then frankly . . . if you don’t like that or don’t want to do that, then stay the hell where you came from,” He then went on to speak on behalf of us … ““I think most Canadians feel the same. That’s maybe saying it a little harshly, but it’s the way I feel.”

These two men hold positions of power in our country. Harper has remained silent and they still have jobs.

Justin Trudeau just  suspended two members of the Liberal Party caucus pending the outcome of an investigation of sexual harassment.

I ask you who would you rather have as our PM.

Unless you are awaiting the coming of the second messiah I would recommend voting strategically this coming year as the language that is being used in our country as of late is not language I recognize as Canadian.

In June 2014, a 24 year old man named Justin Bourque from Moncton, shot 5 RCMP officers. It was the deadliest attack on the RCMP since 2005. He is a white male who was potentially suffering from depression.

Stephen Harper did nothing to change the way we protect ourselves.

4 months later in October, Michael Zehaf-Bibeau shot and killed a Canadian solider and then stormed Parliament and was killed.  Michael was 32 years old, a drug user with known mental health issues. He claimed to support jihadists and others in the Middle East resisting the West’s intervention, but was not known to the police to be a terrorism risk.

Today I have Bill C-51 and a serious threat against Canada by ISIS?!?!

I wonder if Michael had been another Justin, another white male with mental health issues, if we would have the scapegoat that was needed to start this dangerous conversation of them and us.

I really want my beautiful mosaic of a country back.

I am a Giraffe

This Saturday I am going to show up and protest Bill C – 51.

I wish I was going for a walk. I wish this was not going on in my country.

I am, for the first time, actually scared of what is going on.

When you are scared you can do two things, Fight or Flight.

Day of Thanks for March 9

Leo Jul 23 | Aug 22 “As you get older, the heart sheds its leaves like a tree,” said French novelist Gustave Flaubert. “You cannot hold out against certain winds. Each day tears away a few more leaves; and then there are the storms that break off several branches at one go. And while nature’s greenery grows back again in the spring, that of the heart never grows back.” Do you agree with Flaubert, Leo? I don’t. I say that you can live with such resilient innocence that your heart’s leaves grow back after a big wind, and become ever-more lush and hardy as you age. You can send down such deep, strong roots and stretch your branches toward the sun with such vigour that your heart always has access to the replenishment it needs to flourish. The coming weeks will provide evidence that what I say is true.

Remembering you forgot to take it seriously.

I have had a really hard time getting over someone. Not because I believed her to be the one but because she lied to me.

In my 20s sure, I accept that. Not many of us knew who we were. We drank, we partied, we lied.

But to know the 38 year old me, I can’t understand how someone would lie to me. My only expectation is honestly and I am really open about that. I accept changes of heart, changes of mind but I abhor deception.

She touched a really deep nerve in me and right now, the world I live in keeps hitting it. As we get closer to our upcoming election I am getting more and more aware of how mad I am at Canada. When my thoughts go to this place I am going to envision a big, beautiful, Canadian tree and what it feels like to grow and change one more time.

My International Woman’s Day Crush

Elizabeth_MayMarch 8th was International Woman’s Day. Yesterday we also sprung forward in time. Coincidence. I think not.

There is a petition going around to get women onto Canadian currency. Click here to sign

If we win this one I am going to start another to get Elizabeth May on the 5 dollar bill. Blue gold. Water.

In a time where women are underrepresented in politics she leads a Party. Since 2006 she has been growing and strengthening the Green Party in Canada so this year Elisabeth May is My International Woman’s Day Crush.

Thank you!!

Hump Day for March 12

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAStephen Harper won the 2011 election and was granted a majority government which we are now seeing the full effect of. The craziest part of all of the changes in the last 3 years is that the majority of Canadians don’t agree with anything that is going on in our country.

Right now the Conservative Government is putting forward another bill that will change the landscape of our country. The Fair Elections Act. Google this and you will see a list of articles all stating that this is not good for Canadian Elections.  Not a big reader watch Rick Mercer do what he does best.

Since Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party hit the scene they have not backed away from one of its key messages – its time to talk about Canada and Canadians and not Party Lines and Politicians. Politicians need to start doing what is best for Canada and not doing whatever is needed to stay in power. The NDP and the Green are right beside the Liberals.

If you think the idea of coalition government is a bad thing how do you like living in a country where just 39% of the voters gave one party 54% of the MPs and 100% of the power. I personally would love to see the left leaning parties work together since most of the people voting for them are fundamentally the same with a few minute differences. What we are not, is anywhere close to similar to Stephen Harper. I love hearing Thomas Mulcair talk about working with the Liberals. That is what is going to get Canada moving in the right direction. Partisan Politics are killing me.

Here is a few way to make your voice heard

This is the first photo that I am posting that I did not take. It is done by an artist named Mervin Windsor. I found it on Facebook and fell in love.

Tuesday night I came up with a business outline for my up coming work conference. The idea came from a signature on my good friend’s email.

minaademowin, as I understand it in words, is a way of communicating with another being. It comes from the heart and a place of recognition that we are all connected. It comes from the heart, straight out and outward for the purposes of going up, for the purposes of growth and growing. In english, it means ‘respect’.

I love that business models are coming to me from this culture. I love that Harper is getting one of his biggest push backs from our First Nation’s communities. Their actions are inspiring us to speak up for the parts of Canada we love but forget we have to protect. I think the other side of the 2015 election is going to be beautiful.

Hump Day for November 6

harper not care

Another attack on the middle class, the working class, the average Canadian. In a time when job security is scarce why is it that our Government is making the safety net of our society smaller and smaller yet my taxes are not changing. If I pay taxes I would like them to be used to help Canada keep Canadians sheltered, educated, healthy and safe. Who is getting all of our money and where is it going?
